Shift & Schedule
- Day Shift: 5 days a week, 8 hours per day
- Shift Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Requirements & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nursing experience
- Proficient in Epic charting system (required)
- ACM-RN certification (required)
- Active Alaska RN license
- BLS certification (required)
- Prefer experience in Community Hospital and LTAC settings
- Prefer Trauma Level II experience
- Strong knowledge in case management and utilization review, including:
- Admission Criteria (required)
- Care coordination and plan of care development
- Continued stay reviews and needs assessment
- Ordering durable medical equipment (DME)
- Pre-certification reviews (required)
- Prior authorizations (required)
- Use of InterQual and Milliman Guidelines (required)
- Worker’s compensation case management (required)
- Compliance with key regulatory frameworks:
- CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services)
- Department of Health regulations (required)
- HIPAA guidelines
- ICD-10 coding (required)
- The Joint Commission/Core Measures/National Patient Safety Goals (required)
- Workers Compensation (required)
- Acute hospital experience in specialties including:
- Emergency Department (required)
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Medical-Surgical Unit (MS)
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) (required)
- Pediatrics (required)
- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) (required)
- Women’s Services (required)
- No travel required for this position
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough case management and utilization review assessments to ensure quality care delivery and compliance with admission criteria
- Coordinate care plans collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and patients to optimize clinical outcomes and resource utilization
- Perform continued stay reviews and determine medical necessity based on evidence-based guidelines
- Manage prior authorizations, pre-certification reviews, and utilization of standard criteria such as InterQual and Milliman Guidelines
- Facilitate durable medical equipment orders and other patient needs assessments
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements including CMS, Department of Health, ICD-10 coding, and Joint Commission standards
- Document all case management activities accurately using Epic charting system
- Provide worker’s compensation case management support in accordance with guidelines
Qualifications
- Current Alaska RN license with ACM-RN certification
- BLS certification from an accredited organization
- Minimum of 2 years’ clinical nursing experience, preferably within acute care and case management environments
- Demonstrated proficiency in Epic electronic health record system
- Strong knowledge of clinical guidelines and regulatory requirements relevant to case management and utilization review
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment
Compensation & Additional Information
